How plot registration charges work in Telangana
A sale deed for an open plot in Telangana carries three government charges. Stamp duty is the state's tax on the document. Transfer duty is collected for the urban local body, so it applies only in municipal areas. The registration fee pays for recording the deed. In both area types the three add up to 7.5% of the value.

Price or market value: which one counts?
The charges are worked out on whichever is higher: the price written in your sale deed, or the market value the department has fixed for that village and survey number. Market values are revised from time to time, so check the current figure for your plot rather than one from an older registration.
What the calculator leaves out
- Concessions announced by government order for limited periods. If one applies on your registration date, your charges will be lower.
- Mutation, which updates the land records to your name after registration.
